Liverpool is a great place to visit but you do need to plan in advance to get the most out of your time there. One of the main things to sort out is your hotel. According to Liverpool and Merseyside Hotels there are at the time of writing 100 hotels with a Liverpool postcode. The way the postcode system works that could mean a hotel in the centre of Liverpool or one across the Mersey in Birkenhead or way up in Southport to the north of Merseyside. So get a map out and make sure you know where your hotel is.

City Centre Merseyside Hotels

Of course the main location for most people will be a city centre hotel. There is loads to do and plenty of things to see. This article isn't a travel guide and I suggest you head over to somewhere like Visit Liverpool for an excellent guide. A little away from the river but still very much a city centre hotel is the Hope Street Hotel.  Located between the 2 cathedrals and with nearby theatres, restaurants and pubs of the highest standard, the Hope Street Hotel is truly amazing. A short excert from their website - "48 individually designed hotel rooms, solid wood floors warmed by under floor heating and king sized beds draped in Egyptian cotton. Rain dance showerheads the size of dinner plates and Vola fittings complement timeless bathrooms that also include huge soft towels, mist free mirrors and REN products."

For the Beatles fans you have to consider the Hard Days Night hotel with unique rooms like the Lennon Suite with " A white piano against a white backdrop complete with stunning views of the city centre".

and finally for location location location its got to be Jurys Inn . Located at Kings Waterfront, adjacent to the Albert Dock and directly opposite the BT Convention Centre and Echo Arena. A great place for all things central.

Liverpool Park Hotels

All that city centre buzz can wear you down. Why not try the Alicia (which despite their dreadful website picture) is located right next to Sefton Park. Great for a relaxing stroll.

Merseyside Hotels away from Liverpool

If the city is just for a day visit but you want a luxurious base and don't mind being a bit out of town try The Leasowe Castle in Wallasey. 6 acres of ground, a golf course and the sea. What more could you want.
